Setting up notifications

Each agent can configure their own notification preferences in their account to decide how new chats are signaled. This article explains how to set these preferences.

You can find your Notifications settings under Settings, accessible via the gear icon in the top right corner of Watermelon.

You can choose to receive notifications on your desktop or via email.

  • AI Agent conversations
  • New conversations
  • Conversations in Your inbox

You can also choose:

  • No notifications
  • Notifications for each conversation

You’ll receive an email with a preview of the conversation. This email is sent to the same email address you use to log in to Watermelon.

Tip: We recommend enabling all notifications except for desktop and email notifications for AI Agent conversations. This way, you can quickly pick up all live chats!

Other options

  • Play sound notification: Choose whether to hear a sound when a new conversation starts.
  • Receive tab notifications: Enable notifications in the browser tab when a new chat comes in.

Browser notifications

We recommend using one of the following browsers:

  • Google Chrome
  • Mozilla Firefox
  • Safari
  • Microsoft Edge

When you click on the notification you will be taken directly to the relevant conversation.

Important: You must allow pop-ups for the Watermelon dashboard in your default browser. If you accidentally block notifications, pop-ups, tab notifications, and sounds may stop working.

Allowing browser notifications

You can allow browser notifications by following these steps:

After doing this, you also need to enable notifications for your web browser in your PC settings.

For Apple:

  • Click on the Apple icon at the top left.
  • Click on System Preferences.
  • Click on Notifications and focus.
  • Find your default browser in the list and select how you want to receive notifications there.

For Windows:

  • Click the Windows icon in the lower left corner.
  • Click Settings. Then click on System.
  • Click on Notifications & Actions.
  • Scroll down and find your default browser. Select how you want to receive the notifications.

Email notifications

For email notifications, it's important that your email system is set up to receive emails from Watermelon. If you don’t receive emails after setting up notifications, it might be because the domain used by Watermelon to send notifications is on the 'greylist'. Emails from the "@watermelon.ai" domain may be delayed or blocked. Additionally, your spam filter might mark Watermelon notification emails as spam.

To resolve this:

  • Contact the administrator of your email system.
  • Ask them to add the @watermelon.ai domain to the 'whitelist'.
  • Optionally, ask them to update the email program to the latest version.

Sound notifications

If you’re not receiving sound notifications:

  1. Click the Play sound notification button under Other Options to test the sound.
  2. Make sure the option is checked under desktop preferences.
  3. Check your sound settings to ensure volume is up and not muted.
  4. Verify the correct audio output device is selected:
  • Go to your device settings.
  • Choose the correct audio output device for playback.

This should resolve any issues with sound notifications.
