Each agent can set their personal notification preferences to determine how they want to be notified of a new chat. This article explains how to configure these settings.
Notification preferences
You can find your notification preferences within the Watermelon settings:
- Go to Settings.
- Click on Notification preferences.
- You can choose to receive notifications on your desktop or in your email.
Desktop preferences
Here, you can select whether you want to receive notifications for chatbot conversations, unassigned chats, and/or your own chats. You can also specify whether you want to receive notifications for every new conversation or for each new message.
Under Sound notification, you can choose whether you want to hear a sound or not. And in Notification in browser tab, you can indicate if you want to receive a notification in the browser tab.
Email preferences
Here, you can select whether you want to receive an email notification for chatbot conversations, unassigned chats, and/or your own chats. You will receive an email with a preview of the conversation. This email is sent to the same address you use to log in to Watermelon.
We recommend enabling all notifications except for desktop and email preferences for chatbot conversations. This ensures you can quickly respond to live chats!
Browser notifications
We recommend using one of the following browsers:
- Google Chrome
- Mozilla Firefox
- Safari
- Microsoft Edge
When you click on the notification you will be taken directly to the relevant conversation.
Note: You must allow pop-ups for the Watermelon dashboard in your default browser. If you accidentally block notifications, pop-ups, tab notifications, and sounds may not work.
Allowing browser notifications
You can allow browser notifications by following these steps:
- Open Watermelon in your browser.
- Click on the icon to the left of the URL.
- Ensure that the toggle next to Notifications is turned on.
After doing this, you also need to enable notifications for your web browser in your PC settings.
For Apple:
- Click on the Apple icon at the top left.
- Click on System Preferences.
- Click on Notifications and focus.
- Find your default browser in the list and select how you want to receive notifications there.
For Windows:
- Click the Windows icon in the lower left corner.
- Click Settings. Then click on System.
- Click on Notifications & Actions.
- Scroll down and find your default browser. Select how you want to receive the notifications.
Email notifications
For email notifications, it's important that your email system is set up to receive emails from Watermelon. If you don’t receive emails after setting up notifications, it might be because the domain used by Watermelon to send notifications is on the 'greylist'. Emails from the "@watermelon.ai" domain may be delayed or blocked. Additionally, your spam filter might mark Watermelon notification emails as spam.
To resolve this:
- Contact the administrator of your email system.
- Ask them to add the "@watermelon.ai" domain to the 'whitelist'.
- Optionally, ask them to update the email program to the latest version.
Sound notifications
If you’re not receiving sound notifications:
- Click the 'Test Sound' button under Notification Preferences in Desktop Preferences to check if you can hear the sound. If not, try increasing the volume.
- Make sure the Sound Notification option is checked in the desktop preferences. Sometimes the sound might be accidentally disabled, or Watermelon may not be allowed to play sounds in the background.
- If you're still not getting sound notifications, check your sound settings. Ensure that the sound is not muted or disabled and that the volume is turned up.
- Finally, ensure that the sound is being played on the device you’re currently using. If not, try changing the device on which the sound is played. To do this, go to the device settings and select the audio output device. Below is a guide on how to do this.
How to adjust you sound settings for Windows users:
- Click on the Windows Start menu and select the gear icon to open the Settings app.
- Click on the System option in the Settings app.
- From the System settings, select the Sound option from the left-hand menu.
- In the Sound settings, check that the volume is turned up and that the device you want to use for audio output is selected under the Output tab.
- To adjust the sound for specific apps, click on the App volume and device preferences option under the Advanced sound options section. Here you can select which device you want to use for audio output and adjust the volume for specific apps.
How to adjust your sound settings for Mac users:
- Click on the Apple icon on the top left corner of your screen and select System Preferences from the dropdown menu.
- Click on the Sound option in the System Preferences window.
- In the Sound settings, check that the volume is turned up and that the device you want to use for audio output is selected under the Output tab.
- To adjust the sound for specific apps, click on the Output tab and select the app you want to adjust from the list of running apps.
