In this article, you’ll learn about the ‘Select an owner’ user rights in Watermelon, what it does, and how it helps structure user roles and responsibilities.
What is ‘Select owner’?
By selecting an owner, it becomes clear to Watermelon who the official account owner is. Only one owner can be assigned, but multiple administrator are allowed. The owner has the same permissions as an administrator and may receive additional rights in the future. This helps maintain clarity and simplifies the management of important settings and responsibilities. Permissions for Support users are not affected by these user rights and remain unchanged.
How does ‘Select owner’ work?
First-time login
When you log into Watermelon for the first time, they are prompted to select an owner for the workspace. This is a one-time setup that ensures ownership is clearly assigned from the beginning.
Administrator prompt and deadlines
The administrator will see a pop-up requesting them to assign an owner. They can dismiss this message temporarily, but there are set deadlines in place:
- The pop-up can be dismissed for up to 30 days.
- After 30 days, assigning an owner becomes mandatory.
- If no owner is selected within 60 days, Watermelon will automatically assign an owner.
This ensures that every workspace is properly managed with a clear point of contact.
