Network settings when Watermelon can't connect

Common causes of connection issues

Connection problems can happen for various reasons. Here are a few common ones:

  • Internet connectivity issues.
  • Browser settings blocking Watermelon.
  • Firewall or antivirus software interfering with the connection.
  • Network settings on your operating system needing a reset.

If Watermelon can’t connect, follow these steps to resolve the issue.



Quick fixes

Restart Watermelon

A quick restart often resolves minor issues. Refresh the browser, or close the Watermelon application completely and reopen it to see if the connection is restored.

 

Check your internet connection

Make sure your device is connected to a stable internet network. Try loading another website or app to verify the connection.



Troubleshooting your operating system’s network settings

If the above steps don’t resolve the issue, follow these steps based on your operating system:

 

For Windows:

  • Press Windows + I to open Settings, then navigate to Network & Internet.
  • Check the status of your connection under Status. If issues persist, click Network Troubleshooter.
  • Reset your network settings by scrolling down to Network Reset and following the prompts.

For macOS:

  • Open System Preferences and click Network.
  • Select your active network and ensure it says “Connected.”
  • Click Assist Me, then follow the instructions to troubleshoot.


Troubleshooting browser network settings

Sometimes, your browser’s settings might prevent Watermelon from connecting. Follow these tips for supported browsers:

Google Chrome:

  • Open Settings, then navigate to Privacy and Security > Site Settings.
  • Ensure that Watermelon’s site permissions allow for necessary functionality.
  • Clear your cache by going to Privacy and Security > Clear Browsing Data.

Mozilla Firefox:

  • Go to Settings > Privacy & Security.
  • Under Cookies and Site Data, ensure Watermelon isn’t blocked.
  • Clear cached data under Cached Web Content.

Safari:

  • Open Safari Preferences, then go to the Privacy tab.
  • Ensure Prevent cross-site tracking isn’t blocking necessary Watermelon resources.
  • Clear your browsing history and cache via History > Clear History.

Microsoft Edge:

  • Navigate to Settings > Cookies and site permissions.
  • Check permissions for Watermelon to ensure they aren’t restricted.
  • Clear browsing data under Privacy, search, and services
